SAHIDE SANIN // Dalston Calling
As the industrial prominence of Dalston in the London Borough of Hackney diminished, the area encountered recognisable patterns of disinvestment and degradation. Today, property speculation and development continue to gather momentum, bringing to the surface the paradoxes of urban regeneration.
These photographs attempt to capture a moment of transition – a phase in the physical and social transformation of a part of London which shares many characteristics with cities experiencing similar change across continental Europe.
Sahidé Sanin is a filmmaker and photographer and is currently based in London. Her work is concerned with representations of modernity, architecture and hybridity.
